The Reflection

Overall, my trip to Chicago was extremely well.  It was the first time I was able to go into museums and galleries and not only go in them but also really look at and connect with the pieces.  The experience was different, but I was able to learn a lot and I had a great time.

Honestly, I don’t think the venues really impacted how I interacted with the work.  Whether it was on the street, in the park or in a museum or gallery, to me, it was all legitimized because anything can be art.  Also it all provided the same context.  As a tourist, I don’t believe that the venue altered or shaped the associations I brought to the table when looking at the works.  I asked myself the same questions while looking at them and looked at each piece thoroughly.  Also for every piece, no matter the venue, I looked to see if I was able to relate to the work in any way.   You never judge a book by its cover, or in other words, you never judge a work of art by its venue.
